J&K CM Omar Abdullah Unveils Budget 2025.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah presented the J&K Budget 2025 in the Legislative Assembly today, outlining key welfare initiatives and development plans.
•Major Announcements in the Budget:
Free Public Transport for Women: All women will be allowed free travel on government-run public transport, including e-buses.
Marriage Assistance for Underprivileged Girls: The financial aid for girls under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) category has been raised from ₹50,000 to ₹75,000.
Free Ration for AAY Beneficiaries: Starting April 1, families under the AAY category will receive 10 kg of free ration.
Water Quality Improvement: 98 new water testing labs will be set up across J&K this year.
Support for Press Clubs: The government will take steps to revive press clubs in Jammu and Srinagar.
Zero Stamp Duty: Property transfers to blood relatives will now have zero stamp duty, making transactions more affordable.
Boost to Agriculture & Tourism: The budget allocates ₹815 crore for agriculture and ₹390 crore for tourism development.
New National Law University (NLU): A sum of ₹50 crore has been proposed for establishing an NLU in Jammu and Kashmir.
Statehood and Vision for J&K
While presenting his first budget as Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah emphasized the challenges faced by J&K and the government’s commitment to overcoming them. He reiterated that restoring full statehood remains a top priority for his administration.
“Our challenges are immense, and our limitations are many, but we must unite with determination to address them. This budget is crafted to reflect the dreams of our people, the needs of future generations, and the aspirations of every citizen of J&K”,he stated.
The budget aims to drive economic growth, support vulnerable communities, and lay the foundation for long-term development in the region.
