J&K Govt Sets Course for Daily Wagers’ Regularization: Six-Month Roadmap Announced

In a decisive step towards addressing the long-standing issue of daily wage workers in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced the formation of a high-level committee to assess their exact numbers and devise a structured plan for their regularization.
The committee, led by the Chief Secretary and comprising key officials from finance, planning, and legal departments, has been given a six-month deadline to submit its findings. This move aligns with the government’s commitment to ensuring job security and improving the livelihoods of thousands of contractual and temporary workers across various departments.
“The government is determined to resolve this issue in a fair and structured manner,” stated Chief Minister Abdullah, emphasizing that the committee’s recommendations will pave the way for policy decisions in the upcoming budget discussions.
The initiative aims to streamline employment policies, address financial constraints, and establish a transparent mechanism for workforce regularization. Daily wagers and contractual employees, who have long demanded job stability, see this as a crucial step towards securing their future.
With the committee expected to submit its report within the stipulated timeframe, all eyes are now on the government’s next course of action in fulfilling its promise of equitable employment reforms.
